Sr. Francis Mary's Vocation Story

I am continually amazed by how the Spirit guides my life. You see, it was just a few months ago when I began feeling that I might have a vocation to the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist (SMME) specifically. At first I quickly dismissed this notion thinking that I was not Dominican material, nor that I was worthy enough to serve our Lord in such a beautiful way!

By God's wonderful grace and love, I was re-introduced to the Dominicans just a few weeks later at a family and friends visiting day. Now, after attending a vocation discernment retreat, reading various newsletters and articles, and visiting the community on several occasions, I have been accepted to join the SMME.

I wish to join the SMME because I long to serve my Beloved God totally and without reserve, and this is the community to which I feel God is truly calling me. I feel at peace and at home whenever I visit the community, or think about giving my life to the Lord here as His bride. I believe that the image of Mary holding Her Son, which I saw in the Eucharist when I was ten years old, was an answer from God.

Although I did not realize it at the time, God was asking me to give my Fiat, my heartfelt and sincere yes to Him. When I first met the sisters and noticed the beautiful pendant that they all wear as part of the community's habit, the image from eleven years before really hit me hard. This is where I belong. I love the community, and all that the sisters do from the prayer life, to the apostolate of preaching, to the Dominican Spirituality and joy! This community has everything I could ever hope for, and more! The Lord knows where I will be really happy, and I know it is with these sisters!

They teach, sing (a hobby of mine!), chant the office, serve the Church and God's children everywhere, consecrate their lives to Jesus through Mary (St. Louis de Montfort's Total Consecration), and they are so joyful, all for HIM and through HIM!!!! These are all aspects which I feel God has called me to fulfill through religious life in a community where I am to join in an everlasting praise to my future Spouse, Jesus Himself! All in all, I feel His call in my heart to this community, and it is hard to express in words the love and tenderness with which Christ is calling me to be His bride and a Dominican Sister of Mary, His Mother.

I pray frequently for my future benefactors. I ask Him Who is to be my Spouse to send me those souls that need prayers to become my benefactors, as I will commit to praying for each of them daily. In this manner I hope to assure all those generous souls of my constant prayers and gratitude. My Bridegroom is waiting for me, and He will provide the means for me to get to Him.
